How did you document before Nixi AI, and what was the most tiring part?

Attention split three ways

“Like most physicians, I traditionally documented consultations directly in our practice management system, either typing during the consultation or dictating notes afterward.”

“The most tiring aspect was not necessarily the documentation itself, but the constant division of attention between the patient, the computer screen, and the clinical thought process. In gynecology, consultations often involve very personal concerns, complex symptoms and individual treatment decisions, where, besides the medical aspects, the patient's life circumstances, wishes and goals play an important role. That is why listening attentively and maintaining eye contact is particularly important.”

Have you tried other solutions, for example the AI feature of your practice software?

tomedo and Nixi AI side by side

“We use tomedo, a practice management system that we genuinely appreciate. Its speech recognition function allows us to dictate clinical notes, which are then transcribed into the patient record. This already makes documentation considerably easier.”

“Nixi AI takes this a significant step further. Rather than simply transcribing what the physician dictates, it captures the entire doctor-patient interaction and extracts the clinically relevant information: symptoms, medical history, examination findings, and the diagnostic and therapeutic plan discussed.”

“For us, tomedo and Nixi AI are complementary: tomedo provides the excellent infrastructure for managing our practice, while Nixi AI adds another level of intelligence to the clinical encounter.”

  1. Step 1ConversationNixi AI records the consultation while the physician talks with the patient.
  2. Step 2DraftNixi AI structures the history, findings and the plan discussed into a note.
  3. Step 3ReviewThe physician checks, corrects and approves every note.
  4. Step 4Into tomedoThe approved note is copied into the patient record with one click.

“The real promise of medical AI is not replacing physicians, but allowing us to spend more of our time actually being physicians.”

What has changed since, in your daily routine and in conversations with your patients?

Listening instead of recording

“The greatest benefit is the opportunity to concentrate more fully on the patient rather than on documenting every detail during the consultation. Instead of having to dictate a summary afterward or constantly think about what needs to be recorded, I can focus on listening, asking questions, and engaging with the patient.”

“I also appreciate receiving a structured clinical summary: Nixi AI structures the history, the findings and the plan we discussed, and prepares referral letters and patient instructions.”

What is still missing for you?

Room to grow, shaped by clinicians

“Nixi AI can generate patient instructions, referral letters, and certain postoperative instructions, making it increasingly useful in our daily clinical workflow. Of course, there is still room for improvement, particularly in seamless integration with our practice management software, specialty-specific documentation, and additional clinical workflows.”

“What I find especially encouraging is the attitude of the Nixi AI team. They are genuinely interested in feedback from practicing physicians. Rather than offering a finished product and expecting us to adapt our workflows to it, they invite us to help shape the technology around the realities of clinical practice. Clinicians themselves should play an active role in determining which problems AI solves next.”

What would you tell colleagues who are considering AI documentation?

Try it, stay curious, stay critical

“My advice would be simple: give it a try, remain curious, and be willing to contribute to its development. AI documentation is already capable of much more than simple speech recognition. It can help structure complex consultations and prepare medical correspondence.”

“Of course, AI is not perfect, and its output must always be critically reviewed. Clinical responsibility remains with the physician.”

“Ultimately, the goal should not simply be to save time on documentation, but to use that time for what matters most: thoughtful clinical decisions, meaningful conversations, and personal attention to our patients.”
